Relatives of inmate who died in Elista colony treat list of figurants as incomplete

The Elista City Court plans to hold the first session on the death of the inmate Dmitri Batyrev in the colony, who, according to investigators, received at least 60 blows with a rubber truncheon. The prisoner’s dock contains seven employees of the local department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (know as UFSIN); five of them are accused of the inmate’s death; and two others – of beating inmates in 2012. The family of Batyrev believes that investigators failed to reveal all those guilty of his death.

Nadezhda Sandjieva, Dmitri Batyrev’s sister, said that she would apply for detention of at least two other UFSIN employees.

"They were identified during the inquiry but not charged. I think they are directly guilty of my brother’s death, because they also tried to hide the crime," Nadezhda told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Besides, she does not rule out that after the trial on the criminal case, she will claim, together with Dmitri Batyrev’s wife, compensation of moral harm from the UFSIN.
