In Derbent, tenants of dilapidated houses express their distrust to Minister of Construction
On February 22, Abdusamad Gamidov, Prime Minister of Dagestan, met residents of Derbent, who do not want to move out of their dilapidated houses from the city centre to the area of the industrial zone. The city residents demanded to remove Minister Kazibekov from the resettlement programme and to carry out a new examination of their houses.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 20, residents of Derbent, who protested against their resettlement to new buildings, threatened to block the federal highway and the railway. On February 21, they were met by City Mayor Malik Bagliev.
Because of the lack of funds in the budget, the authorities demanded from the city residents to cover all the costs of their eviction.
The residents of Derbent spent more than three hours in their hope to meet top-ranking officials at the building of the city administration, the "Chernovik" (Draft) reports.
In particular, the residents of Derbent asked to file a motion to the government of the Russian Federation for an extension of the third phase of the "Dilapidated housing" programme because of the lack of time for the resettlement. Besides, they also asked to pay rent for the period of the construction of housing.
According to the "Chernovik", Gamidov decided to continue discussion of those questions on February 28. He has emphasized that officials want to find a solution to the problem together with tenants of dilapidated houses, to ensure that they can move into new comfortable housing till earlier September.
