Bodies of Azerbaijani soldiers evacuated from battlefield

The evacuation of the bodies of five servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army, killed in the conflict zone, was held with the participation of international mediators, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has announced today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the escalation in the conflict zone took place at night on February 25. According to the Azerbaijani party, Armenian soldiers attacked its territory; the attack was repulsed resulting in five killed Azerbaijani soldiers. In their turn, the spokesmen of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh assert that Azerbaijan tried to make a diversion. According to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the bodies were found in the neutral territory, not in the area controlled by Azerbaijan.

The first attempt to evacuate the bodies failed; and the parties accused each other of breaking the prior agreements.

Today, the press service of the Azerbaijani MoD has reported that the bodies were evacuated from the battlefield.

The evacuation took place with the direct participation of the officials of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the OSCE, says the report.
