March in support of Arthur Sargsyan is over in Yerevan

About 20 participants of the march in support of Arthur Sargsyan have expressed their desire to join the round-the-clock protest action with a demand to release the activist, who is accused of helping the "Sasna Tsrer" detachment.

On July 17-31, members of the group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) created by supporters of the opposition movement "Constituent Parliament" captured the building of the police regiment in Yerevan. At night of July 26, Arthur Sargsyan broke through the police cordon around the building and delivered food for the rebels. The court pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure to Arthur Sargsyan. The activist is suspected of assistance in hostage-taking and illegal purchase and possession of weapons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on February 27, at the end of the protest action in support of Arthur Sargsyan, an oppositionist Shagen Arutyunyan began his sit-in demonstration.

In the afternoon on February 28, 30 persons took part in the action; 10 of them stayed in Freedom   Square the entire previous night. Today, about a hundred activists have marched along central streets of Yerevan in support of the arrested activist.

After the march, protesters announced that tomorrow, on March 1, there will be no march, because the Armenian National Congress (ANC) had planned its action on the same route. The next march is scheduled for March 2, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Shagen Arutyunyan, one of the organizers of the march, said that about 20 people had expressed their desire to join the 30 participants of the round-the-clock sit-in strike.
