Over 100 persons hold march in memory of victims of March 1-2, 2008, events in Yerevan

A commemoration march of those killed during street riots on March 1-2, 2008, in Yerevan, was held today in Yerevan by supporters of the "Elk" electoral bloc.

The marchers, accompanied by the police, walked from Charles Aznavour Square to the monument to Alexander Myasnikyan, close to which tragic events took place nine years ago, and laid down flowers, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Clashes with the police on March 1-2, 2008, during which 10 people perished and over 250 were injured, began after the dispersal of the oppositional rally, led by the former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

"Those guilty of March 1 killings have not been punished yet, since it may chain-point the major culprit," said Nikol Pashinyan, a marcher and the leader of the "Civil Agreement".

In his opinion, the major culprits are the then President Robert Kocharyan and the incumbent Serzh Sargsyan, who was the Prime Minister then, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
