Arthur Sargsyan is back at large

After his release, Arthur Sargsyan, who had been accused of helping members of the "Sasna Tsrer" detachment, was brought to the Yerevan medical centre because of his poor health condition, said his advocate Tigran Egoryan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, 26 MPs of the National Assembly of Armenia (Parliament) supported the petition to the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia with a demand to release Arthur Sargsyan from custody. Today, the GPO decided to release Sargsyan after MPs have deposited a bail for him.

On July 17-31, members of the group "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) created by supporters of the opposition movement "Constituent Parliament" captured the building of the police regiment in Yerevan. At night of July 26, Arthur Sargsyan broke through the police cordon around the building and delivered food for the rebels. The court pronounced the pre-trial restriction measure to Arthur Sargsyan. The activist is suspected of assistance in hostage-taking and illegal purchase and possession of weapons.

Arthur Sargsyan is back at large, but in a grave health condition; he needs doctors’ care and treatment, his advocate Tigran Egoryan told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that an ambulance has transported Sargsyan to the "Armenia" Medical Centre.
