Authorities find rally of Navalny’s supporters in Volgograd anti-constitutional

The rally of supporters of Alexei Navalny planned to propagate the ideas, which may be treated as aimed at undermining the constitutional order, an official of the Volgograd Mayoralty has stated at court. The aim of the rally was to get answers from the authorities to the questions voiced in the Navalny’s film, said Alexei Volkov, the electoral office coordinator.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 20 Volkov sued the Mayoralty for the refusal to sanction the rally.

After the release by Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Fund (known as FBK) of the film "He Is Not Dimon", dedicated to the "secret empire of Premier Dmitri Medvedev," many cities of Russia began planning rallies with a demand to investigate into the data voiced out in the film.

Today, Tatiana Ryakhovskaya, the spokesperson of the Mayoralty’s committee for interacting with civil society, has noted that Lenin Square is a monument of history and culture and is subject to protection. In order to hold a public event there, one needs coordination with the Committee of State Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects of the Volgograd Region, she has explained.

Mr Volkov said that the demand for the resignation of Dmitri Medvedev was never applied as the goal of the rally. He also stressed that parents of students and teenagers from Volgograd are asking him to "prevent an unauthorized event."
