Opposition files lawsuit demanding to cancel election outcomes in Armenia

The bloc "Armenian National Congress-People's Party of Armenia" (ANC-PPA), which had received a refusal from the Central Election Commission (CEC) to annul the outcomes of the parliamentary elections, has appealed to the Constitutional Court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Armenia held its parliamentary elections on April 2. On April 9, the CEC announced the official outcomes of the elections: the voter turnout was 60.86%; four political forces entered the parliament; and more than half of the mandates went to the Republican Party. On the same day, the CEC rejected the demand of the ANC-PPA to cancel the elections; and the oppositionists started drafting a suit to the country’s Constitutional Court.

Today, two lawsuits have been submitted to the Constitutional Court, demanding to cancel the election outcomes: one – on behalf of the ANC-PPA bloc; the other – from a group of citizens and observers, said Tigran Egoryan, the lawyer of the bloc.

According to his version, the lawsuit lodged by the bloc describes violations during the elections, namely, "briberies, intimidation of voters, pressure using administrative levers and crime, widespread violations of the secrecy of voting, repeated voting, disruption of technical means and Internet connections, and use of violence against journalists, trustees and observers."
