Organizer of action in support of Navalny arrested in Sochi for eight days

The Sochi court found Suren Edigarov guilty of holding an unsanctioned action and arrested him for eight days. In his turn, Edigarov asserts that activists were detained as a result of a provocation.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 16 ten activists went out against corruption in the "Hyde Park" of Khosta.

Roman Dyakov and Gennady Kotenko, activists of the movement "Open Sochi", have noted that the court marshals "did not allow them to enter the courthouse." "The right of the public and of Suren Edigarov to openness and publicity was violated," said Kotenko.

According to Edigarov himself, from the moment of detention at 9:00 a.m. on April 16 and until 5:00 p.m. on April 17, "he was never offered to eat and sleep."

He has added that "he was not allowed to get acquainted with the case materials, and was not provide with an opportunity to file petitions for interrogation of witnesses."

The advocate Mikhail Benyash has noted that the action was held in the "Hyde Park" – the place not covered by the Law "On Rallies and Pickets".

Valery Perevozchikov, a journalist and another participant in the rally, managed to avoid drawing up a protocol on an administrative offence.
