HRC “Memorial”: resident of Chechnya disappears after his trip to Dagestan

The family of Djakhar Bisultanov, a resident of the Grozny District, cannot find him for a week. He disappeared on April 11 after he went to Khasavyurt to meet his girlfriend, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has reported.

The Djakhar’s disappearance was reported by his mother Medent, who lives in the Shali District, while her son, born in 1995, lives in the village of Komsomolskoe (Berdykel) of the Grozny District.

According to Medent Bisultanova, first, her son did not pick up the phone, and at night on April 12, his phone was turned off.

In search of her son, Medent went to Khasavyurt, and also visited the village of Novolakskoe – a Dagestani village on the border with Chechnya.

On April 15, policemen came to the mother, interviewed her and took away her son's passports.

"They told her that should her son not show up within seven days, they will treat him as the one, who has joined an illegal armed formation (IAF)," the HRC “Memorial” has reported.

According to his mother, Djakhar has already twice been the object of attention of power agents. In the spring of 2016, the young man travelled to Turkey. At the airport of Istanbul, he was detained and deported to Moscow, from where he was handed over to power agents; and they put Bisultanov on the prophylactic accounting. Besides, in January 2017, power agents took him away from home and kept him in the police for more than three weeks, the website of the HRC "Memorial" reports.
