Azerbaijan starts Islamic Solidarity Games with football match

The 4th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Azerbaijan began between a football match between the national teams of Saudi Arabia and Morocco. In total, four matches are planned for today. The competitions of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games will be broadcasted for 58 countries.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in February 2013, Azerbaijan filed an application for holding the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. In July 2013, Azerbaijan was granted the right to hold the event, and the ceremony of the official signing of the contract to hold the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games was held in Baku on April 7, 2015.

The Islamic Solidarity Games are an international sporting event that involves the best athletes from the countries of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. On May 12-22, Baku will host the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games. The programme of the Islamic Solidarity Games includes competitions in 20 sports. About 3000 athletes from all 57 countries participating in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will take part in the competition.

The opening ceremony of the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games will be held on May 12. Meanwhile, the competitions have already started today.
