Over 47,000 residents of Karachay-Cherkessia take part in "Immortal Regiment"
Today, in Karachay-Cherkessia, all cities and districts have held the "Immortal Regiment" action on the occasion of the Victory Day. In Cherkessk, the march was attended by about 14,000 people, reports the administration of the leader of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR).
In Cherkessk, the action "Immortal Regiment" was joined by pupils, staff members of labour collectives, and Rashid Temrezov, the leader of Karachay-Cherkessia, with his family members. They marched through the streets, and in their hands they were holding the portraits of their relatives, who fought during World War II.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the management department of the administration of the leader and government of the KChR that in total, more than 47,000 people took part in the marches of the action "Immortal Regiment" in Karachay-Cherkessia.
"Today, my daughter has attended the patriotic action. In her hands, she was holding the portrait of Akhmed Elgaitarov, her great-grandfather, who passed the war from the beginning to the end and who reached Berlin. We are proud of the generation of our winners. Many people are eagerly waiting to take part in the action 'Immortal Regiment'. It is very important for the upbringing of the younger generation, and it will not allow the pages of our great history to be forgotten," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Armida Naimanova, a resident of Cherkessk.
