Observers report new kind of violations at elections to Yerevan Council of Elders
Out of the received reports and the publications in the media, the working group has identified 79 reports with signs of electoral violations committed in the course of the elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent at the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 14, the voting at the elections to the Council of Elders of Yerevan was held in the Armenian capital.
According to the spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, 56 reports were identified during the monitoring of the media, and other 23 reports as a result of the verification of the reports on violations received by the police.
All those reports were promptly sent for verification of the information to the police and territorial offices of the Investigating Committee, reports the spokesperson for the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia.
Daniel Ionnisyan, the coordinator of the programmes of the "Union of Informed Citizens", has informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent on revealing a new kind of violation committed by the ruling party in the course of the elections to the Council of Elders.
"Supporters of the RPA came to the polling stations as observers from some unknown organizations. They wore fake badges, and at the places, they instructed voters for whom to vote. The violation was of massive nature. At least for us, this is a new kind of violations, since we have never noticed anything like that before," noted Daniel Ionnisyan.
According to him, those people were not registered to carry out an observation mission at the elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders.
