Tenants of destroyed house request prosecutors to check "Volgogradgorgaz"
In Volgograd, members of the initiative group of tenants of a house destroyed in a gas explosion have demanded to oblige the "Volgogradgorgaz" to pay compensation to cover the cost of lost apartments, property and moral damage.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 16, in the Sovietsky District of Volgograd, an explosion caused a collapse of a section of a four-storey house, killing four persons and causing hospitalization of 11 others.
According to calculations of the "Caucasian Knot", this explosion in the house located in University Avenue has become the fourth such case in Volgograd since 2011.
On May 16, the tenants of the house filed to the gas service a complaint about a strong smell of gas; however, that did not help to prevent the gas explosion.
On May 20, Vitaly Makarov, a tenant of the destroyed house, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that on the day of the tragedy, his wife Oksana Makarova, who was killed in the gas explosion, called the gas service.
From the number of people affected by the gas explosion, an initiative group was formed to be led by Andrei Gimbatov, a deputy of the Volgograd City Duma.
Andrei Gimbatov has reported that the tenants held a gathering and made a decision to address the Prosecutor of the Volgograd Region with a request to carry out a procedural audit of the activities of the "Volgogradgorgaz". According to Andrei Gimbatov, the minutes of the gathering contains a "request to collect from Joint-Stock Company (JSC) 'Volgogradgorgaz' the cost of lost apartments, property, and monetary compensation for moral harm because of its negligence and slowness in eliminating the consequences of damage to an underground gas pipeline."
