Coaches in freestyle wrestling evaluate teams from Dagestan and North Ossetia as equal
A healthy rivalry of wrestlers from North Ossetia and Dagestan contributes to their victories at international competitions, said Vyacheslav Bagaev, a coach from North Ossetia. The strength of the teams is approximately equal, but Dagestan has already won for two years the team ranking at the Ivan Yarygin tournament, Shamil Omarov, a coach from Dagestan, said in his turn.
On June 12-14, the city of Nazran, Ingushetia, welcomed the Russian freestyle wrestling championship-2017. Gold medals were won by Dagestani athletes Gadjimurad Rashidov, Magomedkhabib Kadimagomedov, Zaur Uguev, Abdulrashid Sadulaev, as well as by athletes from North Ossetia – Vladislav Valiev, Alan Gogaev and Khetik Tsabolov.
Athletes from North Ossetia and Dagestan have always been rivals on the wrestling carpet, Vyacheslav Bagaev, an Honoured Coach of the RSFSR and International Category Referee, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"The tougher is the competition in freestyle wrestling – the higher are the results at world and international tournaments," the expert believes.
Shamil Omarov, the Honoured Coach of Russia in freestyle wrestling, who is coaching Abdurashid Sadulaev, has noted that in recent years the Dagestani national team has been more successful on the wrestling carpet than the team of North Ossetia.
By the number of medals won at the Olympic Games, athletes from Dagestan and North Ossetia are approximately equal, although there are more champions in Dagestan, said the coaches.
