Oppositionist Bairamly refused from medical examination
Investigators have appointed a medical examination of the health status of Gezyal Bairamly, the deputy chair of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), who had complained of traumas at received at detention. However, she refused to undergo the examination, considering it belated, said her advocate.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ms Bairamly was detained on May 25 while returning from Georgia. According to the Azerbaijani State Border Service, she carried an undeclared sum of 12,000 US dollars; and she was accused of contraband. Her advocate stated Bairamly's health problems and violation of her rights.
Ms Bairamly treats the charges against her as politically motivated. Her advocate claims that the searches conducted at her home were unlawful.
According to Asabali Mustafaev, an advocate, he and his client decided that 35 days after the detention, there is no sense of a medical examination.
Meanwhile, according to his story, Bairamly's health continues worsening; and doctors have already examined her several times at the SIZO (pre-trial prison).
Besides, Bairamly has a restricted right to telephone conversations with the persons who, in her opinion, may represent her legitimate interests.
According to the advocate, this causes her strong moral harm and aggravates her health problems.
