Portuguese footballer complains about regular shooting in Dagestan

Hugo Almeida, a former striker of the Krasnodar "Kuban" FC and the Makhachkala "Anji" FC, has reported about regular shooting in Dagestan and his desire to leave the republic.

According to Hugo Almeida, a player of the Portuguese football national team, he enjoyed playing for the "Kuban" FC, but then he signed a two-year contract with the Makhachkala "Anji" FC.

"When I moved to the 'Anji' FC, I was told that we would live in Moscow. However, something happened during the off-season and we had to move to Dagestan. It struck me. It was a military zone. Every day I heard shootouts in the streets, as if it was the Wild West," said Hugo Almeida.

The football player said that "once he witnessed how a car hit a man and just continued moving as if nothing had happened." "I lived in a hotel at the stadium. I, a 30-year-old man, lived at the stadium, as if I was again 14 years old, and that was not a very pleasant experience. My contract was signed for two years, but I left in six months. I just could not stand that," the "Tribuna Expresso" quotes the Portuguese football player as saying.
