TSU students hold protest rally on Georgian-South-Ossetian border
Near the border village of Bershueti, more than 50 people lined up in a live chain on the road. In their hands, they are holding posters reading: "No occupation", "Our land is our responsibility", and "Stop Russia". The activists who protest against the transfer of the borderline intend to set up tents on the border territory and spend a night in them.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 4, the State Security Service (SSS) of Georgia accused South Ossetia of moving a banner indicating the border. The banner has been moved for about 500 meters, and about 10 hectares of land have been lost, claim residents of the Bershueti border village. On July 5, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) called those statements an information provocation and "propaganda fake."
The protest action against the movement of the borderline between Georgia and South Ossetia involves students of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). There are police patrol cars and representatives of the EU Monitoring Mission at the place of the protest action.
Some activists plan to set up tents near the border line and stay there for a night. Tomorrow, on July 9, another group of people is expected to join the action, the "News-Georgia" reports today.
More than 50 people with posters in their hands lined up in a live chain under the flags of Georgia, the "On.ge" reports.
