Tourist's murder in Abkhazia has affected tourist industry
People, who bought tours to Abkhazia, reject them and claim their money back, the director of a travel company reports. The owner of a private hotel in Sukhumi has confirmed that tourists are scared with the murder.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, a Russian tourist Andrei Kabanov was killed an armed attack in Abkhazia. On July 12, the Russian Embassy to Abkhazia recommended tourists to be cautious because of the deterioration of the criminal situation in the republic.
The above murder has already damaged the tourist season, Abkhazian tourist professionals report. The director of a travel company said that tourists refuse to make their travels, "The losses are colossal – we've lost almost all of July, and until mid-August."
Tamila, the owner of a private hotel in Sukhumi agrees that the incident had a negative impact on the tourist season.
According to her story, the tourists, who had booked rooms in her hotel for August, are concerned about the situation in the republic.
Tourists themselves admit that they are a little scared to go to Abkhazia; however, they intend to come there in the future.
Zurab Achba, the Prosecutor General of Abkhazia, has stated that so far, one person is in the status of a suspect.
