In Abkhazia, second man suspected of killing Russian tourist surrenders to police
Agents of the Abkhazian State Security Service have detained the second man suspected of an attack on Russian tourists and a murder of one of them.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 11, in Abkhazia, Russian tourist Andrei Kabanov was killed as a result of an armed attack. The Abkhazian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has promised to pay one million roubles for the information about the attackers' whereabouts. On July 13, the Abkhazian Prosecutor's Office announced the detention of the people suspected of killing the tourist from Russia.
The second suspect has surrendered to the Abkhazian State Security Service, the TASS reports.
The first detainee in the case, a resident of the Gudauta District, is kept at an IVS (temporary detention facility), and the second suspect is also placed there. The names of the both suspects are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
On July 12, the Russian Embassy in Abkhazia recommended tourists from Russia to be more careful on vacation because of the deterioration of the crime situation in the republic. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a director of a travel agency that tourists who purchased vouchers to Abkhazia refuse their tours. According to an owner of a private hotel in Sukhumi, tourists are frightened by the murder of a Russian citizen.
