Dagestani wrestlers win silver at Surdolympics
Four Dagestani judo wrestler-members of the Russian national team took the second place in the team event at the Surdolympics – competition of deaf athletes.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported the above games are held on July 18-30 in the Turkish city of Samsun. Six Dagestani athletes were members of the Russian national team: free-style wrestler Askar Askarov; a taekwondoist Shamil Isakov; and judo fighters Ruslan Askerov, Inna Tanasheva, Kurban Murtazaliev and Murad Magomediliev. On July 21, Ruslan Askerov won the gold medal in the weight category of up to 66 kilograms.
Inna Tanasheva, (weight category of up to 52 kg), Kurban Murtazaliev (90 kg), Murad Magomediliev and Ruslan Askerov (both 66 kg), all – athletes from Dagestani sports schools – became silver medallists within the Russian national team in team competitions, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
The Russian team leads the overall medal count of the Surdolympics, having won 68 medals, including 32 gold ones, the website of the games reports.
