"UNM" demands from Georgian and Ukrainian authorities to stop persecuting Saakashvili
The Georgian opposition "United National Movement" (UNM) Party has treated the deprivation of Mikhail Saakashvili of his Ukrainian citizenship a conspiracy of the authorities of Georgia and Ukraine. Georgian experts believe that the countries agreed on the above during the visit of Petro Poroshenko to Georgia on July 17-19.
On July 26, it became known that Mikhail Saakashvili was deprived of his Ukrainian citizenship because of "providing false information to obtain a passport."
"There is a sign of the conspiracy between two oligarchs (Bidzina Ivanishvili, a founder of the 'Georgian Dream" Party, and Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine), whose goals correspond to the goals of the common enemy of Georgia and Ukraine, i.e., Russia," stated Zaza Bibilashvili, the deputy chairman of the of the "UNM" political council.
"By this deal they want to strengthen the anti-Western forces that are hindering the Georgian and Ukrainian peoples in the struggle for freedom," Zaza Bibilashvili has added.
The Georgian experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent believe the visit of the President of Ukraine to Georgia is connected with the deprivation of Mikhail Saakashvili's of his Ukrainian citizenship.
Korneli Kakachiya, the chair of the "Institute of Georgian Politics", believes that the authorities of Ukraine "conducted preparatory work to deprive Mikhail Saakashvili of Ukrainian citizenship."
In his turn, Tornike Sharashenidze, an expert from the "International Centre for Geopolitical Studies", associates the deprivation of Mikhail Saakashvili of his Ukrainian citizenship "with his political activities in Ukraine."
According to Tornike Sharashenidze, in case of Mikhail Saakashvili's imprisonment, "he will be treated as a victim, with daily visits by European commissioners and US senators."
