Investigators assert that IED exploded in Dagestan

The cause of the death of two people and wounding of another one in the Khasavyurt District was, according to preliminary data, an improvised explosive device (IED), said an assistant to the head of the Investigating Department (ID) for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today around 4:00 p.m., an explosion occurred in the field near the village of Novogagatli in the Khasavyurt District. According to Dagestan policemen, two people were killed and one wounded.

"It was preliminary established that an IED had exploded," said Rasul Temirbekov, a senior assistant to the head of the above ID of the ICRF, the RIA “Novosti” reports.

Investigators consider two main versions of the explosion: either civilians or militants fell victim to the blast near Novogagatli, the TASS reports, referring to a source in the emergency services of Dagestan.

According to the Dagestan Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), young people aged 17-19 fell victim to the explosion, the “Interfax” reports.
