"Life": massacre in Surgut was committed by son of Dagestani extremist
The family of the 19-year-old Arthur Gadjiev, who has been shot dead today by policemen after he attacked with a knife passersby in Surgut and stabbed seven people, had come from Dagestan, the edition named “Life” reports. His father has been registered as an extremist; and the responsibility for the incident was taken by the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, the media add.
According to investigators, today, a man, armed with a knife, attacked passersby in the central street of Surgut. Seven people were wounded and hospitalized, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports.
"Employees of the patrol-and-post service (PPS) were promptly in the venue; and in order to stop the attacker’s unlawful actions they used their firearms, as a result of which the attacker was liquidated," says the website of the ICRF; and the Committee has added that the attacker has been identified, "According to preliminary data, he is a local resident born in 1994."
The information that Gadjiev’s family was from Dagestan was published by the “Mash” Telegram Channel in the afternoon, including on the Facebook and VKontakte.
Later, this information, also without naming the source, was confirmed by the "Life". "At first it was reported that the attacker was a 23-year-old Bobichel Abdurakhmanov, who came from Tajikistan and could be mentally ill," writes the author of the article "Who staged massacre in Surgut?" However, later it became known that the massacre was committed by another person, the 19-year-old Arthur Gadjiev, whose father is Lametulakh Gadjiev is registered as an extremist and is a follower of radical religious movements."
