Chechen authorities treat MP Mukhmad Askhabov's killing as terror act
Mukhmad Askhabov, a member of the Chechen Parliament, was killed in a road accident which occurred after his car had been shelled from an ambush. This was reported by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). Mukhmad Askhabov was likely killed by terrorists, stated Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy of the Government for Chechnya.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, Mukhmad Askhabov, a member of the Chechen Parliament, was killed in the Achkhoi-Martan District. His car was shelled, lost control and turned over several times.
61-year-old Mukhmad Askhabov was elected to the Parliament of Chechnya from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in September 2016. Prior to his election to the Parliament, he occupied the post of the first deputy head of the administration for the Chechen Parliament.
According to Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy, External Relations, Press and Information of the Government for Chechnya, terrorists may be involved in the death of Mukhmad Askhabov. "He had a very active life position," said Djambulat Umarov as quoted by the RBC.
