The murder of Mukhmad Askhabov, a member of the Chechen Parliament from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), had no political motives. This was announced by the leader of Chechnya. Investigators have reported that no priority version of the murder has yet been formulated.

Mukhmad Askhabov could be killed by militants, reported Djambulat Umarov, Minister for National Policy of the Chechen Government.

In his Instagram, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has described the version of a terror act as groundless.
