ICRF releases main version for Chechen MP's murder
The murder of Mukhmad Askhabov in Chechnya could be connected with his official activities. This was reported by the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 25, Mukhmad Askhabov, a member of the Chechen Parliament, was killed in the Achkhoi-Martan District. His car was shelled, lost control and turned over several times.
Mukhmad Askhabov could be killed by terrorists, reported Djambulat Umarov, Minister on National Policy of the Chechen Government. The murder of Mukhmad Askhabov has no political motives, declared the leader of Chechnya.
On August 25, an official from the ICRF informed the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the priority version of the murder had not yet been formulated.
The assassination of Mukhmad Askhabov could be related to his official activities, stated Svetlana Petrenko, the spokesperson for the ICRF.
61-year-old Mukhmad Askhabov was elected to the Parliament of Chechnya from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) in September 2016. Prior to his election to the Parliament, he occupied the post of the first deputy head of the administration for the Chechen Parliament.
"The investigators consider various versions of the murder. According to one of the main versions, the murder is connected with the MP's official activities," reported Svetlana Petrenko as quoted by the TASS on August 26.
