158 people put on updated list of political prisoners in Azerbaijan

Today, a working group, consisting of Azerbaijani rights defenders, NGO activists, and lawyers has released the list of political prisoners. It includes new names of journalists, including Mekhman Aliev, the director of the Turan news agency. The activists keep monitoring cases against other six persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the previous version of the list of political prisoners compiled by the working group of the Azerbaijani rights defenders was published in April 2017. The list contained the names of 147 political prisoners, while the situation over other six persons was monitored.

The new list of political prisoners includes journalists Mekhman Aliev, Afghan Mukhtarly, and Aziz Orudjev, opposition activist Geizyal Bairamly, as well as a group of believers, the press release for the working group reports.
