Grozny authorities report 100,000 participants of festive rally

Celebrations of the Republic Day passed in Grozny in a calm atmosphere, the city Mayoralty has reported. Local residents have told about enhanced security measures in the city centre.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the authorities of Grozny have removed several buses from city routes and used them to bring students and state servants to a rally held on the occasion of the Republic Day. A source from the Mayoralty said that the rally was 100,000 people strong.

People passed through metal detector frames to the square in front of the "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque, where the rally was held, local residents have reported.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), about 1000 law enforcers provided security for the rally; no complaints about their actions were received.
