Witness discloses Vardanyan’s plans to unite Armenia with NKR

At the court session on the case of prepared seizure of power in Armenia by Arthur Vardanyan's armed grouping, the last witness was questioned. According to his story Vardanyan had considered it necessary to hold a referendum on reunification of Armenia with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 25, 2015, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia announced the detention of members of an armed grouping in the Yerevan Nork-Marash District. Investigators believe that they had planned to attack the president's residence, the Constitutional Court, the parliament, governmental buildings and the Public Television of Armenia. According to investigators, the grouping was headed by Arthur Vardanyan, the leader of the organization named "Armenian Shield".

At the court session on September 29, the witness Ishkhan Kishmiryan stated that he had known nothing about the armed grouping; and he did not believe in the change of power, because he "hears about it 500 times a day."

He also said that Arthur Vardanyan hoped for pressure from the Diaspora in the issue of changing the power, and expressed dissatisfaction with the work of Armenian embassies abroad.

"Vardanyan said that he intended to create an anti-terrorist coalition with 37 countries," said Kishmiryan.

According to the witness, Vardanyan believed that instead of the referendum on December 6, 2015, on constitutional reforms, they should have organized a referendum on Armenia-NKR reunification.
