Georgia confirms its intention to join NATO
On October 11 and 12, Batumi hosted the 11th International Georgian Defence and Security Conference (GDSC). The conference was opened by Georgian Defence Minister Levan Izoriya.
"Georgia continues to adhere to its firm and principled choice to become a member state of NATO and to return to the European family," Levan Izoriya said.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili called on international partners to develop a common strategy against the Russian policy.
"Let's create a unified strategy to give clear answers to the Russian policy regarding its neighbours," Giorgi Margvelashvili said.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met James Appathurai, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili discussed with James Appathurai "the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of Georgia, the progress achieved in implementing the main NATO-Georgia package, the ongoing reforms in the country, and the future NATO summit."
