Azerbaijani oppositionist Guseinov arrested for 10 days

Radjab Guseinov, a member of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), detained on October 18, was placed under administrative arrest, his advocate has found out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 19, PFPA members reported that they did not know the whereabouts of Radjab Guseinov, a member of the youth committee of the Saatli district branch of the PFPA, who was delivered to Baku on October 18 after his detention in the Bilasuvar District.

Asabali Mustafaev, Radjab's advocate, has added that he will appeal against the arrest.

"The very fact that the young man was not allowed to inform his relatives after detention and to invite an advocate at his choice is a violation of the law and provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)," said Mustafaev.

Nureddin Mamedli, the head of the Supreme Majlis of the PFPA, said that PFPA party members are sure that Guseinov was arrested for his participation in the rally on October 7.

On October 7, more than a thousand people went out to an anti-corruption rally in Baku. After the rally, six PFPA members, who were in charge of organizing the rally, were arrested for 10-30 days.
