Georgian MoJ distances itself from deportation of compatriots from Ukraine

Eight persons have been extradited from Ukraine to their homeland with the involvement of the Georgian secret services, stated Mikhail Saakashvili, the former President of Georgia. There were no talks on deportation of Georgian citizens, emphasized Teya Tsulukiani, Georgian Minister of Justice.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on November 16, the Security Service of Ukraine (known as SBU) reported that the activities of the Georgian citizens deported from the country contradicted the interests of Ukraine. The number of the deported Georgian citizens included a journalist of the "Rustavi 2" TV Channel and a former body guard of Mikhail Saakashvili.

Mikhail Saakashvili has accused the Georgian secret services of conspiracy with the Kiev authorities against citizens of Georgia.

"All the surnames have been reported to Kiev from Tbilisi. I know that for certain. They seized people, whose contacts with me were not known to the Ukrainian side. Only the Georgian secret services were aware of that," said Mikhail Saakashvili as quoted by the "Echo of the Caucasus".

In her turn, the Georgian Minister of Justice has stated there were no negotiations on the deportation of Georgian citizens between the Ministries of Georgia and Ukraine, the "Georgia-Online" reports.

"There was no communication in connection with the above topic between the departments of the two countries concerning the Ministries of Justice. Our country is open to all citizens of Georgia. And, of course, if another state returns them to their homeland, the homeland is open to them," emphasized Teya Tsulukiani on November 20.
