In Stavropol, law enforcers start visiting apartments after explosion in apartment house
In Stavropol, policemen and Cossacks launched raids to identify leasing apartments. The city authorities explained the purpose of the raids by protection of people from terror.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on December 20, an explosion occurred in an apartment building in Stavropol, and 130 people were evacuated from it. The man who activated the explosive device was killed by law enforcers. He deliberately came to Stavropol to commit a terror act and rented an apartment, a source from the investigating authorities reported.
In Stavropol, the law enforcement bodies have introduced additional anti-terrorist measures on the eve of the upcoming holidays, the City Mayoralty reported.
"Daily joint raids are being conducted with involvement of the law enforcement bodies, the Cossacks, the chairmen of the micro-district councils to identify and inspect rented apartments. Ancillary premises, cellars and attics are being inspected," states the report posted on December 22 on the website of the Stavropol City Administration.
The report does not specify what measures will be taken with regard to people renting apartments. The anti-terrorist raids are provoked by two special operations that took place in Stavropol on December 9 and 20, the STORK (State TV and Radio Company) "Stavropol" reports.
At night on December 9, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime was introduced in the centre of Stavropol, and 30 people were evacuated from the zone of the special operation. Law enforcers cordoned off a house and later reported on three killed militants who were identified as natives of Chechnya, Dagestan and the Stavropol Territory.
