Chechen authorities report increase in flow of tourists

Since the start of the year, more than 90,000 tourists have visited Chechnya, which is 20 percent more than during the same period in 2016. On the New Year holidays, over 8000 tourists are expected in Chechnya, the Committee on Tourism at the Republic's Government has stated.

"Since the start of 2017, Chechnya has welcomed over 90,000 tourists from other regions of Russia, as well as from close and far foreign countries, including the USA, Germany, France, Turkey, Italy, Japan, China and Korea." The tourist inflow has increased by 20 percent against the last year's same period, which means that year after year Chechnya is becoming more and more attractive for tourists," the above Committee has stated.

Over the same last year's period, Chechnya was visited by 70,000 tourists. The Committee has explained that these are the tourists, reported by tourism operators and hotels.

"Some tourists come to us on their own; they stay in private houses, with their friends or just rent out an apartment for a few days, so we can surely say that the real number of tourists is higher than the above statistics," the Committee's spokesman has stated.
