Fighter from Dagestan defeats Brazilian at tournament in Boston
On January 21, in Boston, Islam Makhachev, a Dagestani mixed-martial arts (MMA) fighter, defeated a Brazilian Gleason Tibau at the UFC-220 tournament in Boston.
In the 57th second of the fight, Makhachev delivered a strong blow to Tibau and sent him on the floor, the "Soviet Sport" writes.
This is the 4th Makhachev's victory in the UFC with one defeat. In total, his career is notable for 15 victories, the RIA "Dagestan" reports.
After the fight, Makhachev has stressed, "I would like to face off with the American Kevin Lee."
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2017, Makhachev defeated the American Nick Lenz at the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC-208) held in Brooklyn. That victory of the 25-year-old Russian was the 14th according to the MMA rules, and the third in the Absolute Fighting Championship.
