Georgian sumo wrestler wins Emperor's Cup in Japan
Levan Gorgadze has become the third European in the history of professional sumo, who won the Emperor's Cup.
The 30-year-old Georgian athlete, who has 13 victories and only one defeat, has already secured his championship.
Gorgadze went in for various types of martial arts since his childhood. At the age of 16, he was a prize-winner at the Youth European Judo Championships, and a year later won the European Youth Sambo Championship. He learned about sumo from TV broadcasts. Levan Gorgadze, performing in Japan under the nickname Totinosin, weighs 165 kilograms with a height of 192 centimetres, the "News-Georgia" reports.
Let us add here that in December 2017, Georgian weightlifters Lasha Talakhadze and Anastasia Hotfrid won gold medals at the World Championships in the American city of Anaheim.
