Eleven people injured by collapsed ceiling in Tbilisi metro
This morning, in Tbilisi, a part of the ceiling has collapsed at the "Varketili" metro station. Three victims were initially reported. Later, the number of victims grew up to 11, reported an ambulance doctor at the place. According to her, all the victims were taken to the hospital, the "Sputnik-Georgia" reports.
People who stayed on the platform at the time of the incident were injured, eyewitnesses reported.
One of 11 injured people is an inspector of the patrol police, the victims are transported to the Ingorokva Clinic, the "Interpressnews" reports.
The suspended ceiling fell on the people who were waiting for a train, an eyewitness told the news agency. "I went down the last step of the escalator, when I saw the ceiling falling on the people who were waiting for a train," said the man.
At present, the "Varketili" metro station is closed, transport workers reported.
