Ali Bakaev detained at Kiev airport

At the Kiev airport of Borispol, Ukrainian border guards have detained Ali Bakaev, a native of Chechnya, suspected of organizing an attack on a unit of the National Guard of Russia (Rosgvardia) in the Naur District of Chechnya. This was reported by an advocate of Ali Bakaev.

A checkpoint of the National Guard of Russia in the Cossack village of Naurskaya was attacked at night on March 24, 2017. During the attack, six fighters of the National Guard were killed and three others were injured. Besides, six attackers were killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the law enforcement bodies of Russia accused Ali Bakaev, a native of Chechnya, of organizing the attack in the Cossack village of Naurskaya. Ali Bakaev was put on the international wanted list. On June 12, 2017, the Ali Bakaev's appeal appeared on the Internet, in which the suspect stated he had not been involved in the attack.

According to advocate Maxim Gerasko, today, at the Kiev airport of Borispol, border guards detained Ali Bakaev. "He was wanted by Interpol. During his interrogation, he announced his intention to apply for asylum in Ukraine. Within 72 hours after his detention, the court is to pronounce a pre-trial restriction measure against him," reported the Ali Bakaev's advocate as quoted by the "Kavkaz.Realii".
