Russian General Prosecutor impressed by houses of Dagestani officials
Today, Yuri Chaika, General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, has arrived in Dagestan. He has instructed his subordinates to check the legality of the construction of local officials' houses and to control their expenses, distribution of subsidies and process of land allocation.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 5, Abdusamad Gamidov, acting Prime Minister of Dagestan, his deputies Shamil Isaev and Radjudin Yusufov, as well as Shakhabas Shakhov, former Dagestani Minister for Public Education and Science, were detained. On the same day, the government of Dagestan resigned. Investigators have released a video, which shows numerous luxury goods inside the houses of the Dagestani officials.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), during a search at the Abdusamad Gamidov's house, a gold pistol was seized among other items.
Yuri Chaika has drawn his attention to the houses in which the Dagestani officials live and called on prosecutors to check their expenses.
"The biggest houses in the republic belong to the officials, and in some cases they are built in the water protection zone," stated Yuri Chaika as quoted by the "Interfax".
The chief of the General Prosecutor's Office has pointed out that the sphere of land relations is exposed to the greatest corruption risk and that budget funds allocated for social subsidies are being embezzled.
