Kazakhstan citizen suspected of heading IS recruiters in Makhachkala

In an office of a real estate company owned by a citizen of Kazakhstan, suspected recruiters discussed candidates to be sent to Syria.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 5, in Makhachkala, law enforcers detained five suspected recruiters of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia. According to the FSB, they persuaded at least four persons to join militants in Syria.

According to the law enforcement bodies, a IS unit was led by a citizen of Kazakhstan, who spent seven years in Dagestan and became a co-owner of a real estate company in Makhachkala. The man held meetings at the company's office, and he called them training sessions. At the meetings, participants discussed religious and political topics and selected candidates to be sent to Syria.

A source from the law enforcement bodies, the citizen of Kazakhstan was married to a local woman. After his detention, he claimed that he had divorced her, but during a search at the woman's house, law enforcers found the detainee's belongings and religious books, the "Kommersant" reports.

According to the law enforcement bodies, several other attempts to send people to the Middle East failed.
