Makhachkala opens photo exhibition devoted to towers in Dagestan and Ingushetia
The main goal of the exhibition "Towers of the Caucasus: Dagestan and Ingushetia", opened in Makhachkala, is to attract the attention of the younger generation to the preservation of those towers, noted Zumrud Suleimanova, the director of the museum "Dagestani Aul". The plans are to hold a similar photo exhibition in all the republics of Northern Caucasus, reported Zaretkhan Plieva, the deputy director of the Ingush State Museum of Local Lore.
On April 18, the opening of the exhibition at the Rasul Gamzatov National Library in Makhachkala was attended by more than 50 people.
Zumrud Suleimanova has noted that the tower architecture is still preserved in Northern Caucasus.
"We need to make all efforts to convince the younger generation that it is necessary to preserve and protect the culture of tower architecture," she emphasized.
Zaretkhan Plieva, the deputy director of the Ingush State Museum of Local Lore, has also noted the importance of preserving the original form of the Caucasus towers.
Aminat, a resident of Makhachkala, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that she learned about the exhibition through the Internet and found her village on the presented photos.
"Of course, there is an interest in such exhibitions. They show us to the old days, when we were not even born," the woman said.
