Dagestan resident accused of links with militants

A resident of Dagestan tried to go abroad to participate in armed hostilities, but was detained by border guards and brought to trial.

According to investigators, in 2017, the man decided to join the militants fighting abroad. "He failed to finalize his intention, as he was detained by boundary control employees", the Public Prosecutor's Office informs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 13, according to the Dagestani Prosecutor's Office of, a member of the Kizilyurt grouping of militants was accused of an attempt to join Syrian militants.
