Russian militaries in Abkhazia and Armenia change uniform because of heat
Servicemen of Russian military bases in Abkhazia and Armenia were provided with new field military uniforms to protect them from thermal shocks; soldiers call new clothes "tropikanka".
"Due to high temperatures in Southern Russia, the command of the Southern Military District (SMD) has taken measures to prevent accidents related to possible thermal shocks during exercises at training grounds," the SMD's press service has reported.
Also, in connection with the heat, an additional daytime rest was introduced for militaries, to be spent in shadow places; canopies have been erected at training grounds; and tanks with drinking water have been provided at nutrition centres at the rate of four litres per person, the "People's News" reports.
