A man suspected of killing a law enforcer in Ganja shot dead during detention

Rashad Boyukishiev rendered resistance to the police and was killed at night, reported the law enforcement bodies. They also reported the detention of 11 protesters in Ganja.

On July 11, Farrukh Gasymov, who was suspected of killing two law enforcers during the riots in Ganja, was detained in Azerbaijan. Together with him, Rashad Boyukishiev (Beyukishiev) was on the wanted list.

On July 10, participants of a rally in Ganja demanded to investigate an assassination attack on Mayor Elmar Veliev and his activities. Two policemen were killed in clashes with the protesters.

"Investigators found that Rashad Boyukishiev, wanted for the murder of policemen on July 10, was hiding in a village in the Shamkir District. He rendered resistance to the police and was killed during the detention," reported the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the State Security Service of Azerbaijan as quoted by the "Interfax-Azerbaijan".

30-year-old Rashad Boyukishiev was imprisoned to a penal colony for murdering his mother in 2007. After his release, he left for Russia, where he served 1.5 years of imprisonment for robbery, the APA reports.

The murder of the policemen in Ganja, one of the Shiite centres, was provoked by social tension in the city, claimed experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".
