IS* claims responsibility for attack on policemen in Dagestan

The terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia by the court has claimed the responsibility for shelling a car of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, as a result of which two policemen had been killed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on July 20, the DPS car was shelled on the "Caucasus" route in the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan. Attackers escaped. It was reported that two out of three policemen in the service car were killed, and the third one was wounded.

"The 'Islamic State'* claimed responsibility for the attack on the DPS inspectors in Dagestan," reported the "Directorate 4" Telegram channel, engaged in monitoring the militants' activity.

The source refers to a report of a news agency affiliated to the IS*.

According to the law enforcement bodies, the service car of the DPS inspectors was attacked by members of a Dagestani militant grouping. "The DPS inspectors were shelled by militants from the 'Khasavyurt' militant grouping," reported a source from the law enforcement bodies as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

Earlier, a source from the law enforcement bodies has reported that participants of the attack on the DPS inspectors were involved in an explosion at the grave of Sheikh Said Afandi Chirkeisky. The responsibility for the explosion was also claimed by the IS*.
