Presence of Chechen law enforcers in Ingushetia causes no authorities' reaction

Under protection of Chechen policemen, workers from Chechnya moved deep into the Sunzha District of Ingushetia, while continuing building the road, activists asserts. Residents of Ingushetia are outraged that the authorities left these actions without reaction, Magomed Mutsolgov, a human rights defender, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in August, the NGO "Opora Ingushetii" (Ingushetia's Pillar) reported about the construction works performed in the territory of Ingushetia under protection of Chechen law enforcers.

In January 2013, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, signed a law, according to which a number of dwelling settlements of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia moved under the jurisdiction of Chechnya.

Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the Ingush human rights organization "Mashr", found it difficult to explain the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent why Chechen authorities need this road. He treats it as a provocation, and does not rule out that this has to do with the upcoming election of Ingush leader.

Back in 2012, the authorities of Ingushetia left territorial claims of Chechnya without reaction, Bagaudin Khautiev, an activist, has noted.
