Alleged militant killed in Dagestan

A man, who opened fire on law enforcers, was shot dead in the Khasavyurt District, law enforcement sources have reported.

The incident occurred on September 13 near the village of Chontaul.

Policemen tried to stop a VAZ-2110 car to check documents; however, an unidentified man opened fire on them, the "Interfax" quoted its duly informed source on September 13.

The attacker on the policeman was killed by response fire, the source has added.

As a result of the shootout, the car caught fire; policemen remained safe and sound, the TASS reports quoting a Dagestani law enforcement source, adding that, according to preliminary data, the man, who attacked the policemen, was a helper to a local illegal armed formation (IAF).
