Activists report about 45 hospitalized after clashes near Zayukovo in KBR

45 people were hospitalized as a result of clashes with policemen near the village of Zayukovo in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), the number of detainees reached 120, activists have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 18, residents of the Balkar village of Kendelen did not let the participants in the march organized in memory of the 310th anniversary of the Kanjali Battle, after which clashes occurred. On September 19, similar clashes of activists with policemen took place in the nearby village of Zayukovo.

After the disorders, about 40 people were detained, Valery Khatazhukov, the head of the KBR's Human Rights Centre, has reported. Zaur Zhemukha, a member of the Public Oversight Commission (POC), said that the lack of official information about the detainees aggravates the situation after the Kabardians and Balkars conflict in Kendelen.

According to activists, most of the patients have skin cuts on their heads.

The investigating isolating facilities of Nalchik, Baksan and Prokhladny keep 120 detainees; six of them are minors, the "Kavkaz.Realii" has reported with reference to activists.
