Kadyrov and Evkurov exchange territories

Against the backdrop of protests in Sunzha and Magas, the heads of Chechnya and Ingushetia have signed an agreement on the mutual border.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that protests against the transfer of Ingush lands to Chechnya are held today in the cities of Sunzha and Magas.

In late August, Ingush activists stated the start of construction works by workers from Chechnya under the shelter of Chechen law enforcers in Ingushetia. On September 7, it became known that the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, had set up a state commission to define and specify the border between the two republics. The Ingush authorities have left the actions of the Chechen side without public reaction, activists told the "Caucasian Knot".

Today, Ramzan Kadyrov and Yunus-Bek Evkurov, the head of Ingushetia, have signed an agreement on fixing the republic's mutual border, the "Meduza" reported at 3:42 p.m. Moscow time.

According to the document, an equivalent exchange of uninhabited territories was made by the republics, the TASS has stated.

Let us remind you that Ingush activists decided to hold, on October 6, a general civil forum to discuss the issue of the territorial integrity of their republic.
